Governor Rosselló announces agreement to grant a federal credit to employers affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria

(February 14, 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced an agreement in principle with the United States Department of Treasury which will allow employers that were not able to operate their businesses —after hurricanes Irma and Maria— to claim a credit of up to $2,400 for each employee that was paid a salary during said period.

Governor Rosselló welcomes Congressional Emergency Disaster Relief Funding

(7 de febrero de 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) The Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, expressed gratitude at the news that the leadership of the United States House and Senate have reached an agreement on much needed federal disaster relief aid for Puerto Rico.

The emergency supplemental funding introduced today is expected to be voted on and approved tomorrow as part of the broader budget and appropriations legislative package.

Governor Rosselló appoints members to the Board of Trustees of the GDB Debt Recovery Authority

(February 6, 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced the appointment of the three members of the Board of Trustees of the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico Debt Recovery Authority, created under Act 109-2017, known as the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico Debt Restructuring Act.

The trustees appointed by the governor are David Pauker, Jorge L. Padilla, and Matthew Karp.

Governor Rosselló presents an education reform centered on the student

(February 5, 2018 – La Fortaleza, San Juan) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced today the presentation of the Education Reform, which consists of a system focused on the student, and which promotes successful models of education.

“In Puerto Rico we have students and teachers with extraordinary talent, intelligence, and creative capabilities. What we are lacking is a system that allows them to develop those talents and skills to their maximum potential. This is an urgent mission,” expressed the governor.

Governor Rosselló meets with mayor of Orlando and visits Puerto Rican medical community

(January 12, 2018 - Orlando, Florida) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, met today with the mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer, to discuss the work the city has done to welcome Puerto Rican families who arrived there after Hurricane Maria passed through the Island.

The governor detailed the recovery process of Puerto Rico, while expressing his gratitude to the mayor for opening the doors of their schools to the Puerto Rican students who moved to his city.

Governor Rosselló invites Puerto Ricans in Florida to use their political power to advocate for the Island

(January 12, 2018 - Kissimmee, Florida) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, today invited the people of Puerto Rico, who are currently living in the state of Florida, to be an active political force in the United States in favor of the Island.

During the town hall—which took place at the Kissimmee Civic Center—the governor highlighted the importance of Puerto Ricans organizing themselves politically to ensure that Puerto Rico receives fair and equal treatment as other jurisdictions.

Government of Puerto Rico announces publication of recruitment call for an inspector general

(January 12, 2018 - Kissimmee, Florida) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, announced that in order to recruit the best possible talent at the local, national, or international level, a general call has been published to receive applications from candidates interested in directing the Office of the Inspector General.

The purpose of this office will be to ensure that government institutions provide quality services to the general public with transparency and without corruption.

Governor Rosselló refers to the Puerto Rico Department of Justice issue of PREPA materials found in a warehouse

(January 11, 2018 – Washington, DC) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, referred to the Department of Justice, for the corresponding investigation, the alleged announcement by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) of materials that were found in a Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) warehouse in Palo Seco that could be used for the restoration of the power grid of the Island.

Governor Rosselló meets with US House and Senate Democratic leaders

(January 9, 2018 – Washington, DC) Continuing his efforts in the federal capital, the governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, met today with Representative Joseph Crowley (D-NY), leader of the Democratic Caucus of the United States House of Representatives.

Later, the governor held a meeting with the leader of the Democratic minority in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

Governor Rosselló continues efforts for equal treatment for Puerto Rico in Washington, DC

(January 9, 2018 - Washington, DC) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, met today with the resident commissioner in Washington, Jenniffer González, to continue the efforts of the Puerto Rico Statehood Commission.

Tomorrow, the resident commissioner is expected to present Puerto Rico’s congressional delegation on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.

At the same time, the governor met with the members of the Puerto Rico Statehood Commission.
